Structure of diatomic molecules

چکیده
Molecules are of course atoms that are held together by shared valence electrons. That is, most of each atom is pretty much as it would be if the atom were isolated, but one or a few electrons are located in regions (for example, between two atomic cores) where they lead to an overall attractive e®ect. To see roughly how this works, you might consider the case of two protons and two electrons at the corners of a square. If you calculate (classically) the total electrostatic energy of this arrangement, you will ̄nd that it is negative { the system is bound. Molecules have several kinds of motion, with quite di®erent energy scales. Assume that a couple of nuclei and a couple of electrons are con ̄ned to a volume with characteristic size a (a couple of oA, typically). Then the uncertainty principle requires that at a minimum, p » 1 h=a, so the typical electron energies will be of order

Determination of e ω , e e x ω , e B , and e α using potential energy functions for heteronuclear diatomic molecules via spreadsheet program
In order to represent the potential energy function over the whole range of R, many potentialenergy functions have been proposed. In the present paper, we employ many potential energyfunctions, to use Numerov method for solving the nuclear Schrödinger equation for the IFmolecule, as an example of a heteronuclear diatomic molecules. Then we determine thespectroscopic constants eω , e e x ω , e B...
متن کاملCalculation of Franck-Condon Factors for a Number of Band Systems of Diatomic Molecules Using Hua Potential
This work deals with the calculation of Franck-Condon factors using Hua potential function for the first time. The advantages of this function have been mentioned, and the numerical methods are used to obtain Franck-Condon factors for the following band systems: Agreement between the values of this work and those obtained from other works is quite good that verifies the reliability...

متن کاملHyperfine Structure Constants for Diatomic Molecules
The multiconfiguration valence-bond method (VB) is applied to diatomic molecules using the Hartree-Fock (HF) atomic basis set. The hyperfine constant, Fermi contact term, is computed as a function of the interatomic separation for the X2∏ ground state of 17OH and X1∑ ground state of 107AgH+ molecules. This study leads to a number of conclusions about the influence of correlation and polarizatio...
